Baldwinsville Baldwinsville officials have pledged support of the Northwest YMCA.
During the Oct. 6 meeting, village board members approved a resolution endorsing the concept of a YMCA facility within village boundaries.
According to Mayor Joseph Saraceni, a YMCA in the village would provide residents a facility within walking distance, utilizing an existing infrastructure, and would be a convenient location for all of Greater Baldwinsville.
A portion of the resolution stated “the Village of Baldwinsville has determined that the building of a YMCA facility would greatly enhance the quality of life and be an asset to the community.”
Officials further resolved to welcome a YMCA facility within village limits (subject to planning board approval) and intend to work in good faith with YMCA volunteers should the Y choose a site within village limits.
“All efforts would be made to work with the YMCA to create a facility worthy of [the volunteers] long commitment to building this community asset,” Saraceni said.
