B'ville's Keep the Ball Rolling goes social

— Expanding its reach to students and the community, Baker High School’s PTSA Keep the Ball Rolling event has launched a social media platform.

KBR – the PTSA’s safe-alternative after senior ball party—can now connect with students, parents, teachers and the community through its Facebook page at facebook.com/Keep the Ball Rolling 2012. The page features announcements, updates, donations, photos and the planning progress surrounding the PTSA’s largest annual event.

KBR 2012 will be held at Baker High School and will begin immediately following the senior ball, (11:30 p.m.) lasting until 3 a.m. KBR admission is included in the price of a senior ball ticket. Baker seniors not attending the ball can purchase a KBR ticket for $5. Gifts for Baker seniors will be drawn throughout the night, with the largest gifts being awarded near the conclusion of the event. Seniors must be present to win.

Burdick BMW, Ford, Lexus, Toyota-Scion has again generously donated a certified-used vehicle to the event. Chris Hayden's Allstate Insurance has donated an iPad2 and Baker High School faculty and staff members have donated a Kindle 3G+WiFi, a 22” HDTV, a digital camera and gift cards.

Baldwinsville Optimists and the Baldwinsville Teachers Association have also made generous monetary donations to help fund this year’s event to insure that every Baker senior receives a gift.

The PTSA asks parents to encourage their seniors to attend KBR rather than hosting individual parties. The PTSA needs event volunteers as it is anticipating its largest attendance yet. Volunteers make KBR run smoothly by performing a variety of jobs: decorating, setting-up activities, preparing and serving food, distributing gifts, checking coats, directing traffic, cleaning-up, etc. Many behind the scenes opportunities are also available.

To learn more about volunteering, attend the next PTSA/KBR planning meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in the Baker High School library. For updates on donations, ticket sales, volunteer opportunities and more, follow KBR at facebook.com/Keep the Ball Rolling 2012 or contact KBR Chair Laurie Noll at laurie.noll@gmail.com.
