Van Buren parks and recreation: Family swim held at Baker HS

— Family Swim is held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 17 at Baker High School pool for a $1.50 fee per person, payable each night at the pool. Youth ages 16 or younger must have a parent accompany them to the program and children under 8 years old must have a parent with them in the water. Shower facilities and changing areas are available, but no lockers. Lifeguards will be on duty during the program. No advanced registration is necessary.

Beginner dog obedience

A dog obedience class covering basic obedience training including heeling, stand, come, sit-stay and down-stay for dogs ages 4-months and older will be held Thursdays in February, March and April at the Van Buren Town Hall, corner of Ellsworth and Van Buren roads. Participants must bring a six foot lead, training collar, and proof of Rabies, Parvo and DHL innoculations to the first class. The first session is scheduled for Feb. 2 to March 15 and the second session for March 22 to April 26. $35 fee, advanced registration required.

Alive at 25

This driver’s safety class, which is required to have a parking permit on the Baldwinsville school grounds, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Baker High School. This is a highly effective program that encourages young drivers (between the age of 16 and 24) to take responsibility for their driving behavior. $25 feed, advanced registration required.
