Lysander resident Burtch causes commotion

— An incident erupted last Wednesday, March 7, at the Baldwinsville Public Library.

The Lysander Republican Committee was holding candidate interviews for the position of town councilor in the 2012 Lysander election at the library when Fred Burtch, a candidate in last September’s race for the republican nomination for Lysander supervisor (in which he lost by a narrow margin) showed up and caused a scene.

Earlier in the day, Burtch had contacted LRC Chairman Mike Bishoff and said he wanted to interview for the position, but was told he could not. Bishoff, however, said Burtch wanted to observe the proceedings and was asked not to because Burtch has verbally abused several LRC members in the past and also has a reputation of being disruptive.

“I was under the impression he wanted to attend the meeting, not that he wanted to interview for a position,” Bishoff said adding Burtch had not filed any paperwork needed for consideration.

After learning of Burtch’s interest in the town councilor position, Bishoff and the rest of the committee decided to let Burtch interview. This was after Burtch showed up at the meeting with a video recorder and a group of supporters. It is also library policy that any meeting held in reserved room must be open to the public.

According to Bishoff, Burtch was admitted to the meeting, at which point he did not answer any of the committee’s questions, but rather began accusing the LRC of being corrupt.

“He was there to be a disruption,” Bishoff said.

Burtch was eventually escorted out of the meeting by a member, who also happened to be a sheriff.

Once in the general area of the library, where there was an art reception being held for works by Ray Middle School and Durgee Junior High School students, Butch began swearing and yelling.

Hey Erin. I was there. The LieSlander Rethuglican Committee - Spite the People held their candidate interviews last night. Mr. Burtch was told not to show up or Bishoff would call the cops. Mr. Bishoff the PUBLIC Library is PUBLIC and you can not control who come and goes. Fred showed up with his cameras but wasn't allowed into the meeting. A violation of the First Rule of the Library Facilities Use Police. (All meetings held at the Library are to non-exclusive and open to the public) Even a concerned registered Republican who wanted to get involved was thrown out of the meeting. He was rather upset and left with a nasty Bishoff taste in his mouth. At the last second, they let Fred in the room to address the committee. I could not hear or see but Norm called Fred a liar and back and forth until Norm got up and was in Fred's face putting on the tough guy act. Fred was escorted out of the meeting by Balloni. Fred being Fred was hyped up and loud and eventually was asked to leave the library and he did. He wasn't thrown out. They deliberated for some time and left around 8:00 PM. Bishoff is a bold face liar. Get ready for a Republican Primary.

“We are trying to bring a level of civility back to a rational level in this town,” Bishoff said of the LRC’s goals. He added that the committee welcomes members of the Lysander community to get involved with the LRC. Those interested can email Bishoff at ybishoff@aol.com.

The guy you threw out of the meeting wasn't very impressed with the LRC. Bring back civility. What a joke. Norm "the interrogator" Assbarry is a great representative for your civility.

The LRC chairmans name is not Mike, its Clarence, he has proven to be a pathological liar that will say whatever crosses his mind at the moment. His campaign against Fred last year included more lies and misrepresentations than Richard Nixon could have told. It is shameful that the "good" Republicans let this slimey little creep run their local party.

Good Republicans is an oxymoron in Liesander.

Oh be quiet you bleeding heart liberal, plenty of good republicans, they just don't participate in the LRC and protect the reputation of their party.

This guy is a menace to our town It's one thing to debate issues... it's another to be disruptive and antagonistic. He looses all credibility in the debate arena as do you turgid with your childish name calling.
