Baldwinsville This is a letter in support of Gene Dinsmore for the position of Lysander Highway Superintendent.
When Gene stepped in five months ago, we were somewhat apprehensive that he could make the changes needed. He methodically set up programs on road, building and equipment maintenance, which had long been dormant. Safety became imperative, being in place before any jobs were started. Phone calls from residents are personally answered, their concerns recorded and resolved.
Saving taxpayers money and keeping their interest at heart is a priority. He has reached out to neighboring town supervisors to join in mutual highway projects.
Gene works well past the normal hours as well as weekends. He attends numerous meetings and seminars each week and visits residents at their homes.
As municipal employees as well as taxpayers of Lysander, we urge all residents to vote for Gene Dinsmore. This is one time the taxpayer wins.
Jonathan Butler, Bruce Cook, John Gilbert, John Lathrop, Dan Parrish, Albert Markham, David Power, Steve Power and Richard Schader, all employees of the Lysander Highway Department.

I find it scarey that the Highway Dept employees love this guy and the previous Superintendent feals the opposite. The Town highway budget is very high and the services provided are poor, the current employees enjoy a very lax schedule that allows them a great deal of freedom, and very little work, no wonder they want him elected

In response to jmsml I say actions speak louder than words and it is a fact we are finding more work is being done at the direction of the present Highway Superintendent than by the previous Highway Superintendent even with the limited budget that Mr. Dinsmore inherited. I also find it very hypocritical that the previous Highway Superintendent, who claimed to be an elected official, which by the way the only election he was in he lost in 97 and was APPOINTED in 2005 (See Post Standard – Neighbors Northeast dated October 13, 2005 It reads: Lysander Names Reeves to Highway Position and then it states Bruce Reeves was appointed highway superintendent in Lysander last week replacing Brian Weller who resigned) and then he ran un-opposed the second term, would make comments about anyone’s attitude being “MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY” after his total disregard for procedure, protocol for present town employees and Town of Lysander residents all were displayed by him by hiring a friend, who did not even live the Town of Lysander, in a MEO position that became available. He did this knowing a Lysander employee had bid on the same job and had also worked for the Town of Lysander for 6 years prior. This all done because he claimed he had promised the job to this friend a year before it became available. This failed attempt cost the Town of Lysander and its taxpayers several thousands of dollars because he tried to manipulate things HIS WAY. This was one of two incidents where the Town of Lysander taxpayers paid two employees to do the same job due to decisions made by the previous Highway Superintendent. As far as the lax schedule at the Highway Dept. it is difficult to do a job, while knowing it has to be done, when, one, your supervisor only works 3 hours a day and that is spent on Ebay or Craigslist and passes out no work of any kind and two, if you would try to do things on your own you are told “No one does anything unless I tell you to do it” This attitude and schedule has changed in the past five months and things are finally getting done as they should. I hope more of the Lysander voters are more informed about the procedures and schedules in the Highway Dept. than you seem to be. To verify my facts, check with the Town of Lysander, Town Board or FOIL copies of the Arbitration and Memorandum of Settlement that should be on file with the Town or you can go to the Town Minutes dated June 14, 2010 RES. #100/2010 and February 13, 2012 RES.#24/2012. Many wasted taxpayer dollars because the previous Highway Superintendent took HIS WAY and once again did not follow protocol or procedure. When residents are pondering Appointment vs. Elected, please consider the Reeves appointment.

Hey Jim, at least they have jobs!!!!!!!!!! I bet every day they go to work they think of you paying their wages and laugh. Keep up the good work suppoting your team the one thing people notice is you flip flop whatever way the wind blows. You are supporting them one day then are against them the next. I bet they really rely on your input. When are you going to run for something other than TOWN COMPLAINER who has been wronged by everybody?

OLDDP I have copies of several emails from the Lysander Highway Department concerning a treadmill I was selling for 300.00 on Craig's list when the previous supervisor was there. Must be he was looking for something to keep himself in shape from lack of working. Apparently the town wouldn't pay for it so he passed. By the way how does one get a job at the highway department? I like the idea that they pay people for staying away. Tell Petie I said hello. Good luck Gene I heard you have done more work in the past 6 months than your predecessor had in 4 years.
