The Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged are underway at the CNY Family Sports Centre. The event was held Thursday, Sept. 27, at the facility on Jones Road in Van Buren.
Baldwinsville As things start to gear up indoors at the CNY Family Sports Centre, the facility was recently given a chance to give back to the community. On Thursday, Sept. 27, CNYFSC was the host site for the annual Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged.
“Being able to hold the games for the athletes involved has been a great honor for us at the CNYFSC,” said Larry Byrns, of CNYFSC. “As our fifth consecutive year as host of these games, we have been able to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved, and more importantly, we’re able to be a part of these great memories for these young athletes.”
The facility also served as host to the Syracuse Ride for Missing and Exploited Children on Friday, Sept. 28. This was the second year that the facility has been given the opportunity to launch the riders out in the early morning, and have them return for a warm meal and a heartfelt tribute to those they are riding for (visit rideformissingchildren.org for more information).
“We at the CNY Family Sports Centre are grateful to be able to serve as host to these events, and we are looking forward to being able to see the success of these programs continue into next year,” Byrns said.
