Baldwinsville The Baldwinsville Rotary Autumn 5K Run/Walk will take place at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Baker High School in Baldwinsville. To participate, pre-registration will be $20 for adults before Sept. 30 or $25 the day of the race. There will be three legs of the course to make for interesting terrain and a fun experience for both walkers and runners. Souvenir shirts and after-race snacks will be available while supplies last.
“This is a great opportunity for family, friends and neighbors to enjoy each other’s company while being active,” said race committee chairperson Dom Losurdo, adding that, “All the funds raised from registration fees support the Baldwinsville Rotary Club, so it is for a good cause too.”
Walkers and runners interested in signing up can email Losurdo for a registration form at firstname.lastname@example.org or reach the club directly at email@example.com.
Fundraisers like this race are a vital part of the club being able to give back to the community. In 2011, the Rotary Club of Baldwinsville made contributions to support local groups like the little league and wrestling clubs, food pantry, Christmas bureau, senior center and more. They also gave out three scholarships to local students, sent a student to a weekend-long leadership skills camp and provided dictionaries to every third grade student in Baldwinsville schools.
The Rotary Club of Baldwinsville meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday and at 12:15 p.m. every Wednesday for lunch at the First United Methodist Church of Baldwinsville on Charlotte Street. Anyone interested in learning more about Rotary is invited to attend a meeting, email the club or find them on Facebook.
