Lysander Parks and Recreation offers Father-Daughter Dance

Father and Daughter Valentine’s Dance

Back again by popular demand, the Lysander Parks and Recreation Department will once again host the annual Father and Daughter Dance to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Canton Woods Senior Center, 76 Canton St., Baldwinsville. The Father and Daughter dance is a semi-formal for girls in second through 12th grade and their fathers (or adult male chaperone). There will be a DJ to get participants dancing and the event is limited to 100 participants. Register by Friday, Feb. 8; there will be no on-site ticket sales.

Women’s self defense class

Teaching the basics of kickboxing, self-defense techniques and some fitness exercises while improving awareness of personal safety, this class will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 18, 25 and March 4, at Impact Martial Arts & Fitness, 80 Smokey Hollow Road, B’ville. Participants will learn a handful of offensive strikes and also learn how to apply them in a defensive situation. No experience needed, for females 13 years old and older. Registration required; inquire for fee.

Now accepting used books

Donations of used books are now being accepted during regular office hours at the park office (please do not donate text books, encyclopedias, Readers Digest Condensed Books or books that have mildew or are in disrepair). All donations collected from the used book sale will help with Lysander Summer Day Camp Program. Call 635-5999 with any questions.
