Rodman Christopher Robinson, Sr., 83, of Baldwinsville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Syracuse Home after an extended illness. He was born March 3, 1928, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Albert Christopher and Gladys Higgins Robinson. He graduated from Worcester Academy, Worcester, MA and Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME, where he played varsity football and was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. “Rod” served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He was employed by Union Camp Corp. in Cincinnati, OH and New York City for 35 years and in retirement, he was a purchasing agent for Independence Bank of NJ. He and his family resided in Ramsey, NJ for 47 years before moving to Radisson in 2004. He enjoyed golf, bridge and reading. He also enjoyed the many summers spent at Ferguson’s Grove on Cross Lake with his family and friends. “Rod” was a “Cradle Episcopalian” and served as Warden and many other capacities at St. John’s Church, Ramsey and recently attended Grace Episcopal Church, Baldwinsville.
He was predeceased by his mother, father, Sister Patricia Coyle and son R. Christopher Robinson, Jr. in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Manchester Robinson; two daughters, Melissa(David) Brady of Brewster, MA and Nancy(Paul) Clark of Hammondsport, NY; daughter-in-law Julie Robinson of Liverpool, NY; four grandchildren, Meghan Brady Guzman, Bridget and Nicholas Robinson, and Brooke Clark; two great-granddaughters Savannah and Madison Guzman.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Grace Episcopal Church, 110 Oswego St., Baldwinsville. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours: 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Gates Funeral Home, 29 W. Genesee St., Baldwinsville.
